Nails (Part 3)

okay so FINALLY this is going up!!!!!! (even though i had my phone remind me....)
okay so anyway this is the last part of nails.....(this one will be on pedicures!)
  • 1 Remove any old nail polish thoroughly.

  • 2

Soak your feet in warm water for 10 to 15 minutes. Add Epsom salts or any other commercial foot soak.

  • 3

Clip your toenails straight across using a toenail clipper or scissors. Clipping straight across will help prevent ingrown toenails.

  • 4

File the toenails to smooth any rough edges.

  • 5

Push back your cuticles. Use a cuticle moisturizer if they do not push back easily after soaking.

  • 6

Massage your feet with a moisturizing lotion. Use an exfoliating lotion if the skin is dry and/or roughened. Use a loofah or pumice stone on roughened areas.

  • 7

Separate your toes. Put cotton between your toes, or use a ready-made device for pedicures.

  • 8

Apply a base coat and give it time to dry.

  • 9

Apply polish, cleaning up any stray marks with a cotton swab dipped in polish remover. Add a second coat for deeper color.

  • 10

Complete the pedicure with a top coat of clear polish.

    Nails! (Part 2)

A manicure is a beauty treatment for the hands. The term is most often used to refer to the filing, shaping, polishing and trimming of fingernails. Oftentimes, a manicure includes conditioning of the hands as well with lotions.

What supplies are necessary to give yourself a manicure?

Many people give themselves manicures at home with a simple nail file and their favorite shade of nail polish. However, to really experience a salon-quality manicure at home, you should invest in the following tools:

    • Cuticle pusher: A tool used to push back the cuticle of the nail.
    • Cuticle scissors: A tool used to trim dead skin from the nail and cuticle.
    • Cuticle nippers: A tool used to trim the cuticle.
    • Cuticle oil: A substance that softens the cuticle, making it easier to push, shape and trim.
    • Nail clippers: For trimming the length of nails.
    • Nail file: For shaping nails.
    • Emery board: A tool used for shaping the nails that comes in various gradients.
    • Buffer: A white block used to buff and roughen the nail's surface for the better adhesion of nail polish.
    • Nail polish: Color paint applied to nails.
    • Base coat polish: A nail polish that is applied before the color coat.
    • Top coat polish: A nail polish that is applied after the color coat and acts as a sealant.

How can I give myself a manicure?

Giving yourself a manicure isn't all that difficult as long as you follow the instructions and don't rush.

    • File & Shape: After washing your hands thoroughly, file your nails to the shape you desire. A rounded, almond shape is typically best. File the nail from the outer edge to the center. Never vigorously file back and forth, as this damages the nail.
    • Soak & Push: After wiping off excess nail dust, soak your hands in some warm water until the fingers begin to prune. Dry your hands thoroughly, then use the cuticle pusher to push back the cuticle. Any excess skin may be trimmed with the cuticle scissors, just be sure not to cut into living skin.
    • Buff, Base, Polish & Seal: Now that your nails are shaped and trimmed, use a buffer to roughen up the surface of each nail. Next, apply a thin base coat of polish. After this coat dries, apply two coats of your favorite color of nail polish. Remember to use three strokes per nail. Over-brushing will leave streaks and clumps in the nail surface. Once the nail polish dries, apply a top coat. This coat acts as a sealant and prevents chipping of the color polish beneath.

How much will it cost to give myself a manicure?

The cost of giving yourself a manicure at home is really just equal to how much the supplies cost. A good manicure kit costs around $30.

(i did NOT type all of this i got it online at

    nails! (part 1)

hey again! so idk if u've noticed but im kinda obsessed with posting posts on my blog!!!! this one probably wont have too many pictures but will have some.

okay well these are the kind of nails tht i like. long and french manicure. idk about you but french manicures last about umm 3 day AT MOST for me! they just do not stay on....which i dont know why! maybe because i bite my nails!!!!!!! like not enough to make then short just like idk the word...umm. like just chew down on them!!!! haha mostly my thumb and ring finger on my right hand. like seriously if im walking down the hall i will have my thumb in my mouth chewing on it!!!!! i used to think tht it was weir tht people chewed on their nails but now i kinda understand...it's a habbbit!!!!!!! well anyway , to keep your nails "fresh" try these tips:
file them atleast every 4 days. repaint them every two weeks (if u keep them painted like i do)
always use nail polish remover when putting on a second coat. if u dont it will all get mushy and will change a difrent color!

okay so here is a picture showing how to file nails:

do ur 3 fingers all together! then move on too the pinky!!!! and last the thumb. idk why but it always makes ur nails look rounder, which u want. and when buffering ur nails,DO IT LIGHTLY! if u press down to hard u might notive tht it will start to burn for a minute! and it will just make "cracks" in ur nails.

well thts all for PART 1 but their will be a part 2&3 to keep checking in on my blog!
